I was invited to a semi-expense paid trip to Branson, courtesy of Stone Castle Hotel, to attend the #BloggingBranson Event in exchange for my coverage. No other compensation was provided. All views shared are completely my own.
The Hughes Music Show has an interesting beginning. The family lived in Taylorsville, Utah, for 27 years and then made the decision to pack up and move to Branson, Missouri. In January 2000, the Hughes Brothers took over the former Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre, Branson’s landmark theatre in the heart of town. The family not only performs there, but also owns and manages the theatre, now renamed The Hughes Brothers Theatre.
Can you believe that The Hughes Music Show is the largest entertaining family in the world? That’s right, it is a family affair. All of the Hughes Brothers children and wives are part of this incredible show. Two of the brothers were married at the time and came to Branson with their wives and children. The other three brothers have also since married. Marty, Jason, Adam, Ryan, and Andy are married to Cindy, Mara, Vikki, Carina, and Becky. Now their wives and more than 35 children and grand-children are all part of the show.
When you first sit down to watch the show, you can tell how much work everyone in the family has put into making it one of Branson’s greatest shows. You can also see how passionate the kids are about performing. It is adorable to see even some of the youngest kids sing and perform. All of the kids are homeschooled. It’s amazing how they can juggle all of their school work and still have the ability to perform in all of the shows that The Hughes Music Show has throughout the year.
The Hughes Music Show has a variety of different musical numbers that you will not find anywhere else in Branson. The entertaining show features dancing, singing, and comedy. Every musical number in the show is so uniquely choreographed; however, for me, the kids stole the show. I have never seen a group of teens so talented before. These kids play violins and can even break dance!
The show is full of musical numbers from today’s hits to Broadway musicals. Their tribute to veterans was by far one of my favorites. I will not give it away, but it’s one of those shows that you have to go and see for yourself.
The Hughes Brothers have taken 1st place in several contests, including the Dodge/Wrangler Country Music Showdown, the True Value Hardware Showdown, the Utah You Are the Star Contest, and the National Starmania Contest held in Las Vegas. The Nashville Academy of Independent Recording Artists nominated their album “Talkin’ to the Man” for four different awards, and they ranked in the top five finalists for Group of the Year; a fantastic start in the recording business.
Since arriving in Branson, they have received several awards at the Branson Entertainment Awards Gala, including Branson’s Tradition Award, Branson’s Best Morning Show Award and Branson’s Best Vocal Group Award.” Above all the recognition and awards, they feel their greatest achievement is owning and operating their own theatre. With their audiences coming to them, they can stay off the road…and be with their families.
